Simba is Mufasa's son and future king of the Pride Lands. Simba was a mischievous cub. During the movie, he got in trouble by going to the elephant graveyard with his friend, Nala. Hyenas attacked them, following Scar's, Simba's uncle, to kill him, and if Mufasa didn't arrive to the elephant graveyard quick, the cubs would be goners. Mufasa explained Simba ''bravery'' and gave him a lesson about the Great Kings of the Past. The following day, Simba got in even bigger trouble in a wildebeest stampede into the gorge. Mufasa managed to save Simba, but he died after Scar threw him back into the stampede after saying his most coldhearted quote: Long live the king. Simba thought it was his own fault that his father is dead, and he ran away. The hyenas chasing him from the behind was one more reason for him to get away from the Pride Lands. He crossed the desert, eventually fainting fairly close to an oasis, where a meerkat and a warthog called Timon and Pumbaa raised him and taught him about ''Hakuna Matata'', which means ''No Worries''. During his adulthood in the jungle, he seemed in great sorrow still because of him ''killing'' his father. Later, he falls in love with Nala, his cubhood friend, after she finds him in the jungle. Nala falls in love with him as well, but when she tries to convince Simba to come back, Simba refuses and runs to a nearby grassland. Rafiki, the wise old baboon, convinced him that Mufasa wasn't dead; he lived in Simba. Mufasa's ghost appears to the sky and tells Simba to go back. Rafiki explains Simba about the past, and Simba finally decides to go back to the Pride Lands, finding them dead. He tells Scar to give him the throne or he would take it by force, but Scar refuses and he forces Simba to tell the pride the truth about Mufasa's death. Scar then has Simba hang from the edge of Pride Rock, and then Scar tells him ''his little secret'': I killed Mufasa. Simba finds the strength to go back up and forces Scar to tell it to everyone. He fights Scar and wins after throwing him off Pride Rock, where Scar is finished off by his hyena henchmen. Simba becomes the king and has a cub named Kopa/Kiara.
In Simba's Pride, Simba tries too much to be like his father, and he gets overprotective over Kiara as well. Simba finally understands after Kiara explained ''We are one'' to him and the two prides, the Pridelanders and the Outsiders. It all ends with Simba letting Kovu and Kiara be together and bringing all the Outsiders in his pride.
