-------------- Prologue -------------- Pride Rock stood in ultimate splendor, towering above all who stand before it. The morning sun slowly creeped up from behind the grassy plains of Serengeti Africa, a dark red with orange glow flowing from it's base. All animals from Africa, from the tiny meerkat, to the gigantic elephant, they slowly journyed to Pride Rock. Why was this event so amazing, and important among the animals? New cubs who would heir to the throne had been born, by Kovu and Kiara. Kiara, who was Simba's only child, proudly licked both cubs she held in her open paws. Fondly, she caressed their baby faces and stroked their soft, newborn fur, whilst Kovu marveled at the number and timing. "Two cubs, Kiara? Is this very normal for a lioness your age?" He questioned worridly. Kiara giggled and licked her upset mate's face. "My father says it's unusual, but Sarabi gave birth to him when she was but a year old." Kovu shrugged his shoulders and a smile came from his face. "The male looks a lot like me, don't you think?" Looking at the faces of their heritage, Kiara noticed the male looked similar to Kovu and the female to herself. "Yes," she pondered. "He does, doesn't he? And the female looks like me." Kovu gazed at Kiara's worn-out face and smiled. "Perhaps we should give them a name that sounds similar to ours?" The cub's gurgled and giggled as Kovu's sharp claws tickled their warm, plump bellies. "I think we should, too," Kiara smiled. For a while, none of them spoke, until the silence was broken by the babes giggling. "How about we name them Kuvu and Kira?" Kovu suggested. "Kuvu and Kira? Isn't that much too close to our own names?" Kiara asked, slightly upset. Rafiki slowly strod in, a big smile upon his odd face. "Are our prince and princess ready for the ceremony?" Kiara hesitated to answer, but when she did, she smiled and looked fondly and the gurgling babies. "You mean Kuvu and Kira...our heritage." -------------------------------- The first chapter shall be listed after this one is posted. Constructive critism is always welcome. ^_^

Chapter 1 - Left Out
The sun rose high above the African plains, and showered over Pride Rock, leaving strands of red glow shining on the cold rock. At this time most of the lions and other animals were sound asleep in their dens, except for Kuvu. Kuvu had been a rather odd child compared to his likeliness of his father Kovu. Instead of being quick natured and temper-mental, he was easy-going and kind. Smiling as he watched the sun rise slowly at the tip of the colossal rock, his sister unsuspectingly pounced on him from behind. Giggling, Kuvu playfully pushed Kira away from him.
"Kira, I was having a nice morning," He complained. "Until you came along," he added. Of course he was playing, and his sister had no doubt about it as she nagged him laughingly.
"You promised to take a walk through the Pride Lands." Her face turned into an unhappy frown as she continued, "And father told me at the crack of dawn you would immediately comply to my every wish and-"
"Woah, that vocab has really come off!" Kuvu laughed, cutting Kira off before she could finish. "I made a promise, and I intend to keep it, but you'll just have to be patient. This is the only time in the day I get a moments rest."
Kira reluctantly lay down beside her pondering brother, her face creased into a frown, and her usual pretty face was pert and angry. She gazed into the distance and after around two minutes, the energetic cub could take it no longer.
"Dah, this is boring, Kuvu! Let's go for that walk!" She bursted.
Kuvu chuckled at Kira and finally gave in. "Okay, okay, the time really flew by, didn't it? What, it was about..two minutes?" He added sarcastically.
His younger sibling nudged him playfully as the jumped off little crevices in the rock down towards the grassy ground. "It's been long enough for me," She stated proudly, huffing and extracting her small chest.
-----------------
Kovu's mind had forced his weary body to wake up from his refreshing slumber. Stretching out his legs and extending his claws, he yawned tiredly. Gazing over at his still sleeping mate, he smiled fondly. Her limp form was beautiful in the morning rays, and the morning mist withered around her soft pelt. After licking Kiara lovingly, he strod outside the den just in time to see his two cubs wander off. Kovu giggled and whispered to himself quietly.
"Ah, those two. Well, cubs will be cubs," he said as he retreated down the slope to go by the pool and have a refreshing drink of water.
Most people may think that African water is dull, grainy, and dirty, but in this little pool, the cool freshness of it was refreshing. Kovu could feel his spine shiver as the freezing cold water touched his parched lips and went running down his throat. Finished with the liquid, he went back up to the den and nudged his mate gently.
"Come on, Kiara, it's time for you to wake up." He gently whispered.
Still sleepy and eyes drooping, Kuvu raised her head and weakly smiled at Kovu. "You still wake up early like you used to when you were a cub." Slowly raising up, she yawned and completed the sentance. "But we're not cubs anymore, and that means we're more bone-tired then usual."
Kovu laughed and licked her playfully. "No, we're not, but we can still play."
Kiara mockingly begged him to stop. "Oh please, I beg of you, kind sir to not ache my pore old body." She giggled as Kovu rolled her over and became playfully nipping on her soft skin. After they had their fun, she sat up again and shaked herself off. Looking around, her happy face turned worried as she asked, "Where have Kuvu and Kira gone to?"
Her mate reassured her hastily, "Oh, they're fine, just going outside for a little walk."
-------------
Since the Outlanders had become one with the Pridelanders, Vitani had been treated with no respect. As many may think from her immediate change of sides she would be treated well, but she was really not. Vitani had grown in hate and evil, but had redirected to the good side, but even then she still have thoughts of revenge. Remembering how she was spared from death by Kiara and Kovu though, she always put those thoughts out of her head. Now she couldn't hold them back. Someone had to pay...and soon.
